My First Home Lab Devices – 2 Routers and 2 Switches

I finally picked up the first devices for my home lab today. YES! I’ve been patiently watching eBay, Craigslist, and Facebook Marketplace daily and what I think is a good deal popped up today. Technically this isn’t my first home lab purchase because I’ve already placed an order on eBay and I’ll talk about that equipment once it arrives. But, this is the first equipment I’m getting my hands on.

On Facebook Marketplace I found someone who had equipment they had used to study for the CCNA. He passed and no longer needed the equipment. Here is what I purchased:

Router 1: Cisco 1841 Running Cisco IOS version 15.1
Router 2: Cisco 1841 Running Cisco IOS version 15.1
Switch 1: Cisco WS-C2960-48TC-L with 48 Ports Running Cisco Version 15.0
Switch 2: Cisco WS-C2960-48PST-L with PoE and 48 Ports Running Cisco Version 12.2

The equipment included a console cable and assorted patch cables. Total Paid: $120

I think I got a good deal and the equipment all runs great. Plus, I was able to make a new contact with someone who is already in the IT industry.
